A topper is not a generic category

A freeze-dried product can be sold as a topper, treat, mixer, or complete meal. The label on the exact product page matters more than a broad product category. Instinct's RawBoost+ Mixers Grass-Fed Beef page describes the 6 oz product as a topper or treat. Stella & Chewy's Chewy's Chicken Meal Mixers page identifies a Meal Mixer and lists 8 oz, 18 oz, and 35 oz packages.

Those descriptions do not make the products interchangeable. Before comparing any price, record the selected recipe, stated use, package size, and whether the price shown is a one-time, subscription, or promotion price.

Compare the same kind of record

For a package-price-per-ounce calculation, divide the current one-time package price by the labeled dry ounces for that exact recipe and size. Preserve the official URL and the check date beside the calculation. A smaller package can have a different unit price from a larger package, and a subscription offer is not the same record as a one-time purchase.

This calculation helps compare package records. It does not establish feeding cost, calorie value, ingredient suitability, or that one topper is a better purchase. It also excludes tax, shipping, promotions applied at checkout, retailer discounts, and availability changes.

Recheck the product page before buying

Manufacturer pages change as recipes, packaging, and offers change. The Stella & Chewy's page checked on August 17, 2026 displayed package choices and Feeding Guidelines. The Instinct page checked on the same date displayed a 6 oz option and describes the product's topper or treat use. Future comparisons should be updated when one of those inputs changes.

Use the retailer page only to confirm the final shopping details for the selected package. Do not carry a previous sale price forward or treat a price from one recipe as evidence for another.

  • Match recipe, package, and intended use.
  • Separate one-time prices from subscription or promotion prices.
  • Record the official source URL and check date.
  • Calculate only from the labeled package weight.
  • Confirm the final price and availability at checkout.
